Aptos Labs senior engineer Sherry Xiao and network CORE developer Moon Shiesty introduced a proposal on April 18 to halve staking rewards from 7% to 3.79%. The aim is to curb network inflation and encourage more dynamic economic activities such as restaking, MEV extraction, and participation in DeFi. The proposal, AIP-119, describes staking rewards as a “risk-free” benchmark similar to traditional finance interest rates.
